The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) is a nonprofit federation of more than 50 scientific and professional associations that represents over a quarter-million geoscientists. Founded in 1948, AGI provides information services to geoscientists, serves as a voice of shared interests in the profession, plays a major role in strengthening geoscience education, and strives to increase public awareness of the vital role the geosciences play in society's use of resources, resiliency to natural hazards, and interaction with the environment.
AGI is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organisation dedicated to serving the geoscience community and addressing the needs of society. AGI headquarters are in Alexandria, Virginia.

The GPA Midstream Association is a non-profit trade organisation that has served the needs of its member companies and personnel in the development and maintenance of industry standards, the generation and dissemination of technical knowledge, monitoring and action on related legislative and regulatory issues, and providing a forum for the interchange of technology and developments in the midstream industry since 1921.
GPA Midstream members are operating and producing companies engaged in the processing of natural gas into merchantable pipeline gas, volume movement, or further processing of liquid products from natural gas – commonly referred to as the midstream sector of the energy industry. As the primary advocates for the midstream industry, the association enhances the viability of natural gas, natural gas liquids and crude oil through research, technical, environmental, safety and advocacy activities.
The Geological Society of America (GSA), founded in 1888, is a professional scientific society with members from academia, government, and industry from around the globe. Through its meetings, publications, and programs, GSA enhances the professional growth of earth scientists and promotes the geosciences in the service of humankind. Headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, USA, GSA encourages cooperative research among earth, life, planetary, and social scientists, fosters public dialogue on geoscience issues, and supports all levels of earth science education.
The Nigerian Gas Association (NGA) is the apex organisation representing the varied and numerous stakeholders in the gas sector within the Nigerian oil and gas industry. The NGA is a non-political association that was formed in 1999 to promote the development of gas in Nigeria for the benefit of the nation and the various stakeholders. The Association’s membership consists of a variety of international and indigenous companies as corporate members as well as individual members across the various sub-sectors and disciplines that make up the vast gas-value chain, starting from gas exploration and production companies (Upstream), to gas processing and transportation companies (Mid-stream), and including the various end consumers ranging from power generation companies (Gencos), Gas-Based Industries (Fertiliser, Methanol, Petrochemical, etc.), and Industrial and Commercial Consumers (Mini/Micro LNG, CNG/LPG, etc.). The NGA is the largest gas-focused volunteer/individual-member organisation; the umbrella association and voice of the gas industry in Nigeria.
The New Zealand Institution of Gas Engineers (NZIGE) s New Zealand’s leading body for gas professionals. It is an active and supportive network of individual technical experts, engineers and gas industry professionals dedicated to:
- Promoting safety and efficiency in the New Zealand gas industry through innovative solutions
- Striving to improve gas policy and standards, and encouraging sustainable progress
- Sharing knowledge through mentoring, and supporting learning to enhance technical competence
- Encouraging a strong and active membership across the variety of disciplines in the gas and related industries in New Zealand.
In 2008 NZIGE and the United Kingdom based Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM) formed an alliance, creating a closer relationship between the organisations to provide greater benefit to NZIGE members and respective organisations. The NZ Branch (NZ-IGEM) was formed.
