Education Week

Call for Student Nominations Now Closed

All student applicants will be notified of the selection results by early November.

An Education Week will be held for the benefit of the best 3rd and 4th/final year undergraduate students in science, geoscience, and engineering from qualified institutions around the world. It is anticipated that up to 100 of the best students will be selected to participate. IPTC will cover travel and accommodation expenses for the selected students.

The purpose of Education Week is to provide students a clear insight into the petroleum industry, to work together on a joint assignment, and to provide opportunities for students to form new friendships and extend their network. At the same time, the students will be interacting with a number of major industry employers who are constantly looking to recruit the best talent from institutions across the globe.

Student Nomination Process

Faculty advisors need to nominate up to a maximum of four students from their institute, from within the top 40% of 3rd or 4th/final year undergraduate students from Sciences, Geosciences, Petroleum Engineering, or related Science or Engineering disciplines. We encourage the participation of both male and female students.

The list of nominated students will need to be emailed to Jackie Hoffmann, Regional Activities Manager, and should include their full name and email address. Once received we will send the online application form to each student individually.

The individual student online application form may ask for uploading of transcripts, academic background, career objectives, and reasons for wanting to attend Education Week. The deadline for receipt of nominations and submission of individual student applications is Saturday, 21 September 2019. Please ensure your nominations are sent to us before the deadline so that each student will have enough time to complete the online application.

Student Nomination Criteria

All students nominated must:

  1. Be enrolled in full time, undergraduate studies, either in their 3rd or 4th/final year as of 1 September 2019.
  2. Have excellent proficiency in written and spoken English.
  3. Obtain written permission from their department head to be away from their studies from 11–15 January 2020, plus travel days.
  4. Demonstrate in evidence that they are in the top 40% of their class.
  5. Not have participated in previous IPTC, AAPG, EAGE, SEG, or SPE Education Programmes.
